Time to Talk

Transition into Reception class and Year 1 can be a tricky time for some children, particularly those with poor oral language skills. Help them settle quicker by offering this fun and interactive small group intervention to develop social skills and oral language.

How does it work?

There are a total of 40 sessions however, we recommend consistent delivery twice a week for at least a term. Ideally, it would have most impact during Autumn 1 & 2 when children are struggling to adapt to the new learning environment and to play or make new friends.

Based around a cute and cuddly bear named 'Ginger', the activities focus on skills such as:

  • Eye contact

  • Listening

  • Turn-taking

  • Attention

  • Play and interaction

Who is the programme for?

This intervention is aimed at children aged 4-6 years. It is ideal for:

  • Children with Developmental Language Disorder

  • Children with low self-esteem

  • Pupil Premium

  • Children with an EHCP

  • Those with physical disabilities

  • Children with moderate learning disabilities
